Creating a Flexible, Multi-Use Learning Space
Pointblank Music School approached us with a clear objective: transform their existing common room into a dynamic, multi-functional space. The environment needed to support a range of uses - from informal student breakout areas to structured presentations and lectures - without compromising on comfort or aesthetic appeal.
Flexibility and modularity were central to the brief. The space had to adapt quickly to different scenarios while maintaining a cohesive, professional look aligned with the school’s creative identity.

Our Approach
1. Initial Consultation
We began with an in-depth discussion to fully understand how the space was currently used, as well as its limitations. Working closely with the Pointblank team, we identified key challenges:
- Lack of defined zones for different activities
- Limited seating flexibility
- Difficulty transitioning between informal and formal use
From this, we established a shared vision: a space that could seamlessly shift between social, collaborative, and educational functions.
2. Concept Development
With the brief defined, we developed a layout focused on adaptability. Our design introduced:
- Modular seating that could be easily reconfigured
- Tiered elements to support presentations and improve visibility
- Open zones to maintain flow and avoid overcrowding
Every element was selected to balance practicality with a contemporary aesthetic suited to a creative learning environment.

3. Design & Specification
We refined the concept into a detailed specification, carefully selecting materials and finishes that were both durable and visually engaging. Considerations included:
- Aesthetic matching of the existing decor
- Comfort and ergonomics
- Cohesive design language across all elements
We ensured the final design would not only function effectively but also enhance the overall student experience. The client settled on our oak veneered finish to compliment the existing materials in their space. A neutral dark upholstery was used which will look great for years to come.
4. Manufacture & Preparation
All furniture was manufactured in the UK, within a 4 week turnaround time. This allows us to maintain strict quality control and ensure consistency across the project. During this phase, we coordinated timelines closely with the client to minimise disruption to the school’s schedule.
5. Delivery & Installation
Our installation team delivered and assembled the furniture on-site, ensuring everything was configured exactly as planned. We worked efficiently to transform the space with minimal downtime, allowing the school to begin using the new environment almost immediately. The team at Pointblank were incredibly helpful and accomodating of us throughout the day. This whole space was installed within just one day.

The Result
The finished space is a versatile, future-proof environment that supports a wide range of activities:
- Informal student collaboration during downtime
- Structured lectures and presentations
- Flexible layouts for events and workshops
By introducing modular, reconfigurable elements, Pointblank Music School now has a common room that evolves with their needs - maximising both functionality and usability.

Outcome
- A fully adaptable multi-use space
- Improved engagement for both students and staff
- Seamless transition between different room functions
- A modern, cohesive environment aligned with the brand
